Adwords is the Pay Per Click advertising program of Google. It is the medium that allows you to advertise on Google Search Engine and publisher network. This is highly targeted, very efficient way of advertising. Below is the basic Guide to start Adwords campaign.
Register with Google Adwords and Make Your First Payment
If you already have Gmail account, then you can use the same username and password at the time of registration. Alternatively, if you want, you can create a new Google account for Adwords. Set your time zone and currency in second step. Finally, verify your Adwords account and start with your first Adwords campaign.
Open “Billing” Tab and select “Make Payment”. Add some money to your Adwords account. Type the amount that you want to add and click “Make Payment”. This action will lead you to the Payment Gateway. Select the source of payment. You can deposit minimum amount required for your trial campaign.
Start Adwords Campaign
Come to the “Campaigns” section of Adwords. Create new campaign. You can create three type of Campaigns.
- Search and Display Networks
- Search Network Only
- Display Network Only
If you select Search Network Only, your ad will be shown only on Google search results. If you choose Display Network, then your ad will be visible on blogs, websites, forums, etc. Generally, advertising on Search Network is more expensive than Display Network, as more advertisers are willing to show their ads in search engine queries.
Select any of these network types for your campaign. Now you will be on the page where you can make campaign settings. Select the Location you would like to target. You can set how much you are willing to spend daily on advertisements. In Bidding option, set the most that you will pay per click. Alternatively, you can allow adwords to set your bids automatically. Save campaign settings and continue to create ad group.

Create Ad Group and Your First Ad – Adwords
Ad group is the group of different types of advertisements. Name your ad group and create your first ad. Now it’s time to select some keywords. Your ad will be visible in Google search results, when people search for those keywords that you choose here. You already set the default bid for your ad campaign, but here you can set Group specific default bid. That is the most that you will pay per click for the ads within this group. Save ad group.
Your ad will go live after the review from Google Adwords team. You can also set the dates to start and end ad campaign. You will get all the detailed statistics of your advertising campaign. These are the basic steps to start Adwords campaign.
